Dr hab. Eng. Andrzej Katunin, prof. SUT was nominated in the 29th "Golden Engineer" plebiscite, organized by the editors of "Przegląd Techniczny". Voting lasts until January 20th.

Andrzej Katunin from the Department of Fundamentals of Machinery Design (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology) is a mechanic, specialist in the field of composite mechanics, especially their fatigue and cracking, and non-destructive testing of materials and components. He is the author or co-author of over three hundred publications, including six books and three patents. He is a member of the Academy of Young Scholars and two committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The scientist is also the author of publications in "Przegląd Techniczny", including articles about fractals supporting engineers, non-destructive testing in the light of Industry 4.0, lightning protection for aircraft and modern materials in the context of sustainable development.
Among this year's candidates for the title of "Golden Engineer 2022" there are outstanding creators of technology, both scientists and practitioners - people dealing with new technologies, robotics and automation as well as sustainable development. Among them are two graduates of the Silesian University of Technology: dr hab. Eng. Włodzimierz Adamski and dr hab. Eng. Zygmunt Mikno.
Scientists from the Silesian University of Technology have signed up to the long-standing tradition of the plebiscite, e.g. The Diamond Engineer 2020 was prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk – the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology and the Chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (KRASP).
