An invitation to a conference on sustainable mining and energy transformation
The Dean of the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation, Dr Hab. Eng. Krzysztof Filipowicz, Prof. SUT , together with the whole team of the Faculty, cordially invite you to the International Scientific Conference “Mining Sustainable Development – New Technologies and Ecological challenges of the Polish Energy Transition”, which will take place on December 5th , 2024 in Gliwice.
The conference is organized in cooperation with the National Secretariat of Mining and Energy NSZZ Solidarność and the Coal Mining Museum in Zabrze as part of the project “III National Meeting of Gwarki 2024”.
The event will bring together a group of outstanding experts and practitioners who will share their knowledge and experience in the field of energy transformation challenges. The project has been implemented under the Honorary Patronage of the Minister of Industry, Wojciech Saługa, President of the City of Gliwice Katarzyna Kuczyńska-Budka and Rector of the Silesian University of Technology Prof. Dr Hab Marek Pawełczyk and the Rector of the University of Economics in Katowice, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Celina M. Olszak.
Among the invited speakers will be Dr Hab. Eng. Dariusz Prostański, Prof. ITG KOMAG and Dr Eng. Aleksander Sobolewski from the Institute of Fuel and Energy Technology, who will present the latest industrial technologies and challenges related to the implementation of hydrogen in the Polish energy mix, while Prof. Dr Hab Marta Pogorba from the Institute of Ecology of Industrial areas will present good practices of re-cultivation of post-industrial areas.
Dr Hab. Eng. Alicja Krzemień, Prof GIG-PIB, President of EURACOAL, also present at the conference will present strategies for reducing methane emissions on the example of innovative projects concerning technical challenges of the Polish energy transition and Dr Hab. Iwona Jelonek, Prof. University of Silesia, will present the role of mining in the circular economy in Poland and Europe.
The accompanying event of the Conference is the Scientific Panel – International Workshops on “Mining and post-mining issues during the energy transition”, which will be attended by representatives of scientific units and universities from Bulgaria, France, Greece, Spain, Kazakhstan, Germany, Ukraine and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Calcutta.
We are convinced that participation in both events it is a unique opportunity to exchange views and experience with leaders of science and industry. Together, let’s create a platform for exchanging ideas and inspiration for the future of the Polish mining and energy sector.
