An Aviation Picnic was a good plan for the weekend
On the 16th of November in the hangar of the Academic Aviation Training Centre of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, an Air Picnic for children of our University employees took place. It was attended by whole families who could take advantage of many different attractions. It was a really good Saturday afternoon.
The event took was held as part of the European City of Science Katowice 2024 celebrations. The organizer of the picnic was the Civil Aviation Personnel Training Centre of Central and Eastern Europe.
- We have prepared a lot of attractions, mainly for the youngest, but I think that also adults have found something for themselves - says Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Marcisz, prof. of SUT, from the Department of Air Transport at the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering. - Participants could use several simulators, including drone and glider flight. There was also a modelling stand, and a lot of games and games for children were prepared by animators. There was also cotton candy for the youngest and catering.
The children were impressed by the fact that they could sit behind the controls of one of the aircraft of the Academic Aviation Training Centre. However, all attractions enjoyed popularity. The adults praised the idea and admitted that they were very happy to spend this weekend.
- It's a great idea for a party. I didn’t have to convince the kids for long, they were immediately happy. They can not only have fun here and be interested in something new, but also see what they can do in the future – says Anna Kaźmierczak from the Project Management Centre of the Silesian University of Technology, who appeared at the picnic with her children Kaja and Julian.
The youngest participants did not get bored at the picnic, because animators had many ideas to make the event interesting. Even the Stich mascot took part in the event. The children tried their hand, among others, in walking on mini stilts or laying Yenga XXL.
