An agreement between technical universities for security and defence
The Silesian University of Technology, the Łódź University of Technology and the Warsaw University of Technology have signed a “Jastrzab” Agreement between the security and defence research centres of the civil technical universities. It aims to support the development of research and deployment in the field of security and defence.
Within the framework of the signed agreement, universities undertake to support these activities in cooperation with ministries involved in this area as well as other research funding bodies, including the Foundation for Polish Science, the National Science Centre and the National Centre for Research and Development and the industry working for Security and Defence.
The purposes of the ‘Jastrzab’ Agreement, are in particular:
- taking action to create an effective integrated research system and to promote the development of defence and security research.
- strengthening existing and developing new forms of scientific and technical cooperation between research teams, industry and end-users in and across borders, including organizations such as EDA, NATO, the European Commission.
- dialog and cooperation with other parties involved in defence and security research and training processes.
- defining and identifying the main objectives of education and defence and security research, which are relevant to the needs of the country and society, and which relate to the missions
and strategies of technical universities.
The agreement was concluded on 7th September 2022 at the XXX International Défense industry Exhibition in Kielce. The Silesian University of Technology was represented by Dr hab. Slawomir Thumb, Warsaw University of Technology by Prof. Krzysztof Kulpa and Łódż University of Technology by Dr. hab. Piotr Szczypiński.
