Academic Secondary School in Gliwice students started their summer holidays
185 students of the Academic Secondary School of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice began their summer holidays. On Friday June 24, the fourth school year in the institution's history finished.
‘It was a good year, we had only two months of remote learning; in September the students had started in school and now, in June, they finished it in school. It was with some uncertainty, but we returned to such normality, so we could have visits from foreign guests as part of the Erasmus project, our students could travel, they were in Naples, near Brussels, so such normal school life returned,’ said the director of the Academic Secondary School in Gliwice, Małgorzata Borysławska PhD.
The director added that the Academic Secondary School students were achieving more and more good results in Olympiads, subject competitions. ‘Achievements make us happy, but the most important thing for us is that our students like our school and feel good in it,’she stressed.
‘At the moment we have 185 students and from September we will break the barrier of 200 (students). We will have eight classes for the first time, this is kind of our target,’ added the director.
Rector Prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk admitted that it was with some trepidation that the University had opened its educational activities, under the auspices of the Silesian University of Technology. ‘After several years of operation, our two secondary schools - in Gliwice and Rybnik - have proved to be a great success for our University. We are pleased that these schools are building their prestige, that they are very well recognised in the educational environment and that candidates are very eager to apply to our secondary schools,’ said Prof. Mężyk.
Among the students starting their summer holidays was Szymon from the second grade. 'I had a very good year; I've learnt a lot and had a lovely time here at this school,' he said.
