Academic Secondary Comprehensive School in the lead

July is coming to an end, and with it comes the time for summarizing the results of secondary school leaving examinations and recruitment in secondary schools. These tests constitute a kind of annual test confirming the quality of the school’s teaching. We are pleased to announce that the Academic Secondary Comprehensive School of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice has once again proven that it has joined the ranks of the best secondary schools in Poland.

The results of the Matura examination in the 2025/2026 school year, prepared on the basis of data from the District Examination Board in Jaworzno, confirm not only the high level of preparation of pupils, but also the effectiveness of the education model implemented in cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology.

According to the ranking of the “Wasza Edukacja” portal, taking into account the results of the three mandatory secondary school leaving examinations, the Academic Secondary Comprehensive School took 1st place in Gliwice, 1st place in the Silesian Voivodeship and 32nd place in Poland.

- We are a leader in the exact and artistic sciences. This year's results confirm the school's exceptional effectiveness in preparing students for the basic mathematics exam, the average score of which is the highest in Gliwice and among the top in Silesia for the second year in a row. Even though the school does not offer extensions in humanities and languages, our secondary school graduates achieved very high results in Polish: 74% and English: 96% PP and 88% PR - we read on the school's website.

The results in the flagship advanced subjects and pillars of our teaching profiles also deserve special mention.

Chemistry – advanced level: average result 76.00%, 1st place in the Silesian Voivodeship and 13th place in Poland, Art History – advanced level: average result 72.20%, 1st place in Silesia and 10th place in Poland, Physics – advanced level: 64.00%, 5th place in Silesia. The school also achieved high results in advanced mathematics, computer science, biology, and Polish language.

This success has solid foundations, and we are pleased that the Gliwice ALO has become a school that attracts young people who are able to take advantage of the development opportunities offered by our teachers.

The pupils’ achievements are the result of a consistently implemented educational concept based on the development of mathematical, natural, linguistic, and artistic competences in small groups. Pupils benefit from the scientific facilities of the Silesian University of Technology, participate in research projects, laboratory classes and numerous competitions and Olympiads.

This in-depth educational environment fosters the discovery and development of talents and prepares young people to study in the most demanding technical, medical, architectural, and artistic fields.

The results of this year's Matura exams are a reason for our great satisfaction. This is the result of the pupils' systematic work, the teachers' commitment, and the support the school receives from the Silesian University of Technology. This confirms that the development path chosen by

our teaching staff is bringing tangible results, effectively preparing young people for further education at universities.

It is therefore not surprising that there is high interest in studying at the ALO in Gliwice, confirmed in this year's recruitment, and even record results in the polytechnic profile with MAT-FIZ extensions.

Candidates once again chose ALO, and this year's recruitment confirmed the school's great popularity and the high rating of its educational offer among primary school graduates. A total of 358 candidates applied for places in three educational profiles – polytechnic with a mathematics-physics extension, polytechnic with a mathematics-chemistry extension, and architecture with a mathematics-art history extension – of which 99 indicated ALO as their first-choice school.

The greatest interest was enjoyed by the polytechnic profile with the mathematics-physics extension. For 13 places, 48 first preference candidates applied, which means 3.7 people per place. The admission threshold, the highest in the school's history, was 181.55 points. Seven winners of subject competitions who obtained the maximum number of points for their achievements were qualified for the class.

We are also pleased with the high level of candidates interested in studying a polytechnic profile with an extension of mathematics and chemistry. The acceptance threshold here was almost 173 points. This profile was also chosen by one winner.

The architectural profile continues to attract architecture and art enthusiasts and enjoys stable interest. Despite the lower admission threshold for the architecture profile with the mathematics-art history extension, the average score of accepted students was 168.02. Girls clearly dominate this class – 18 girls and 8 boys were admitted, which has been a characteristic feature of the architectural profile for many years.

In addition to the secondary school leaving exam results, the recruitment confirms the school's growing reputation and the fact that the Gliwice ALO remains one of the most attractive secondary schools in the region. High point thresholds and numerous entries from winners of subject competitions prove that the school attracts ambitious and very well-prepared primary school graduates.

The 2026 enrolment confirms that the Academic Secondary Comprehensive School of the Silesian University of Technology is the first-choice school for many talented pupils, offering a high level of education, modern teaching facilities, and close cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology.
