Academic Secondary Comprehensive School in Rybnik implements the Erasmus+ LANSEN project

Pupils of the Academic Secondary Comprehensive School of the Silesian University of Technology in Rybnik implement the Erasmus+ Lansen project (Language learning with sens(es)). On this occasion, on the 5th - 9th of May 2025, in Rybnik, a mobility took place, in which teachers and pupils from partner schools took part.

A team of specialists from different countries of the European Union wants to introduce innovations and inspire others in the field of language learning, using modern ICT tools, AI and educational platforms with the use of 5 senses. The developed didactic materials, taking into account the latest achievements of neurodidactics and psycholinguistics, will provide support for pupils who will enable contact and interaction with peers from various European schools, allow for personalization of learning, and implement attractive didactic materials in school practice.

The project involves:
• Instituto de Educación Secundaria de Alquerías (Spain) – coordinator of the project,
• Lycée La Salle Saint-Charles — Saint Pierre — France,
• Clara-Schumann-Gymnasium - Bonn, Germany
• Eagle Intuition – Portugal,
• Academic Secondary Comprehensive School of SUT in Rybnik.

During the mobility, which was organized for the participants of the project at the beginning of this month, on 7th of May, a seminar "the brain and the senses" was organized in the Education and Congress Centre of the Silesian University of Technology.

The official opening was conducted by the Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Bożena Skołud. In the first part, the participants listened to lectures on fractals - "Fractals: The Algorithmic Aesthetic of Infinity,” by Dr hab Andrzej Katunin, Prof. SUT, and “Words Shape Worlds”: How Language Shapes What We See and Understand” conducted by Dr. Aleksandra Budzisz (AWF Katowice). Then Joanna Hanak and Katarzyna Wojewodka from the International Relations Office at SUT presented the topic of studying at our University, and the participants solved the quiz with prizes.

The second, workshop part of the seminar took place at The Student Creativity Centre of the Silesian University of Technology. Divided into groups, the participants took part in the “Poland makes sense” workshop conducted by Katarzyna Dudek, MA and Maria Nowicka MA (Foreign Languages Centre at SUT). Foreign pupils learned about Poland and its traditions while performing various challenges concerning Polish customs.
The next “Unlocking Language Learning” workshop focused on the structure and functioning of the brain. This topic was introduced by Jacek Pradela from the Department of Applied Linguistics at the Faculty of Organization and Management of the Silesian University of Technology.
