About the transformation of regions at the Silesian University of Technology

Between the 11th   and the 13th of June 2025, the Silesian University of Technology organizes an event under the patronage of the Polish Presidency in the EU: "Transformation of regions in cultural, industrial and social contexts." The aim of the event is to increase awareness of the challenges associated with the energy and digital transformation, as well as to draw attention to the multidimensional changes that occur in a given area.

Silesia and Zagłębie are regions strongly associated with industry. These areas are currently dependent on the ever-changing energy sector. The transformation process itself brings many changes and challenges in both technical, legislative, and social areas. The event will be an opportunity to exchange experiences between partner universities of the EURECA-PRO alliance, listen to the voices of experts, as well as strengthen ties with representatives of industry and business from different countries.

On 11.06.2025 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., the inaugural lecture by Prof. Luciano Saso (former Vice-Rector of Sapienza University of Rome, Highly Cited Researcher in Pharmacy and Medicine, Secretary General of the UNICA network) will take place, along with a discussion panel.

The title of the lecture is: "Transformation of regions: the key role of innovative research and education at universities".

On the other hand, on the 12th June 2025 from 9:00 to 12:00 , a lecture and discussion panel on the transformation of cultural, industrial, and mining heritage will be led by Prof. Theocharris Tsoutsos (Technical University of Crete, Greece), representative of the EURECA-PRO alliance and coordinator of the HI-EURECA-PRO project. He will also be joined by Dr Hab. Eng. Arch. Michał Stangel, Prof. SUT, who will talk about the sustainable transformation of post-mining areas from an urban perspective.

We invite the entire academic community to register their participation in this event at the link : https://forms.gle/qHeAGeXH9FPmB2418
