A student of the Silesian University of Technology is a referee at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games

Marta Pluta, a graduate and, at the same time, a student of the Silesian University of Technology is a referee at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. Our student is a judge in the discipline of curling. 

Marta Pluta, 25, is the youngest curling judge at the Olympics in Beijing. She is a coach and a player of the KŚ AZS at the Silesian University of Technology. Marta Pluta comes from Gliwice and has been practicing curling since she was 8. She is a multiple champion of Poland both in junior and senior categories and a representative of Poland. She also has her own team - AZS Gliwice Team Pluta. Undoubtedly, she is one of the most recognizable individuals in this discipline in our country. For several years now she has also been a referee. Marta Pluta is a graduate of Biomedical Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology, currently studying at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science at the Silesian University of Technology.

- WCF (World Curling Federation) made a huge surprise for me and I don't know if it was intentional or not, but I received the invitation on 05 May, on my birthday. It was a really wonderful gift," said Marta Pluta in an interview with curling.pl portal right after the nomination.

Curling made its first appearance at the Winter Olympics during the inaugural games in Chamonix in 1924. It has only been since 1998 that curling has been a regular event at the Winter Olympics. Most medals in this discipline have been won by Canada (11). Poland does not participate in curling at the Olympics in Beijing.
