A series of workshops of the Silesian Climate Centre is about to start
Climate change is becoming one of the key challenges for the development of cities and municipalities. In response to these challenges, the Silesian Voivodeship starts a series of workshops for local government units implemented as part of the project “Silesian Climate Centre – Stage I.”
The project is financed from the funds of the European Funds for Silesia 2021–2027 program and aims to develop a regional system of knowledge and competences in the field of adaptation to climate change. The Silesian Climate Centre provides lasting support for local governments and residents of the Silesian Voivodeship in activities aimed at building the climate resilience of the region.
The key element of the project are free educational practical workshops addressed to employees of municipalities, cities and counties and organizational units of the local government. Classes are conducted by experts from leading universities and scientific institutions of the region, i.e. the University of Silesia, Silesian University of Technology, University of Economics in Katowice and the Institute of Ecology of Industrial areas.
The workshops are practical and consultative in nature – they focus on real problems and examples of implementation of adaptation actions on a local scale. The program covers issues related to water management, spatial planning, urban resilience, nature-based solutions and the use of tools and data in climate management and financing adaptation actions.
The workshops are divided into sub-regions of the Silesian Voivodeship. The first cycle starts on the 23rd of April and is addressed to local authorities from the central and northern sub-regions. Further sub-regions will be launched according to the project schedule.
Participation in the workshops is a specific knowledge, practice and certificate confirming climate competence.
