A musical feast
A Christmas and New Year's concert was held in the concert hall of the State Primary and Secondary Music School in Gliwice, performed by the Symphony Orchestra of the Silesian University of Technology, accompanied by the Academic Music Ensemble of the Silesian University of Technology and the Klaster Mixed Choir conducted by Kamil Pawłowski, Krystyna Krzyżanowska-Łoboda and Łukasz Łoboda. It was a real musical feast.
Several dozen musicians on stage, a packed auditorium with a lively reacting audience and many great songs. High-level entertainment was guaranteed. The over-hour-long concert consisted of two parts. In the first one, we heard Christmas carols from all over the world, as well as Christmas songs such as "Last Christmas" and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree". The second part featured movie motifs, such as "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron", "Jaina Homeland" from the soundtrack of the computer game "World of Warcraft" and world hits. After a standing ovation, the audience, of course, did not let the musicians go without a farewell encore.
The Silesian University of Technology Orchestra will soon celebrate its first birthday. There are over 50 musicians, including students of our University, graduates, PhD students, employees, as well as students, from – among others - the Medical University of Silesia and the Academy of Music.
- This is actually our first concert that we have organized and a summary of our work so far - says Jonasz Michalik, member of the management board of the Silesian University of Technology Orchestra. - We would like to thank the Academic Music Ensemble and the Klaster Mixed Choir for their cooperation. We are also grateful to Mrs. Katarzyna Dudek, who is the president of AZM and the "godmother" of our orchestra, because she contributed to its creation from the formal side. We want to continue to develop, give concerts and share our musical passion with the academic community and beyond. We also welcome anyone interested who would like to join us.
