A letter of intent regarding the Scientific Program for Silesia has been signed
Universities associated in the Academic Consortium - Katowice City of Science, signed a letter of intent regarding the Scientific Program for Silesia. On behalf of the Silesian University of Technology, the ceremony was attended by dr hab. Eng. Tomasz Trawinski, prof. SUT, Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Promotion.
The initiator and originator of the Scientific Program for Silesia is the Rector of the University of Silesia, prof. dr hab. Ryszard Koziołek. The substantive assumptions were developed by: Vice-Rector for Science and Finance of the University of Silesia, prof. dr hab. Michał Daszykowski and the Vice-Rector for Science and Development of the Silesian University of Technology, prof. dr hab.Eng. Marek Pawełczyk.
The letter was signed on January 24th, 2024, at the Goldstein Villa in Katowice. On this occasion, a press briefing was held, devoted to cooperation on the Science Program for Silesia as part of the European City of Science Katowice 2024.
The program will be a multi-year cooperation project between universities belonging to the Academic Consortium - Katowice City of Science. It assumes financing of scientific research aimed at solving the most important challenges of energy, economic, environmental and social transformation in the region. The goal is also, among others, strengthening the international visibility of the university, involving social, business and local government partners in the implementation of research projects, as well as enabling students and doctoral students to cooperate with experienced research staff. The program will be implemented with the support of the Łukasiewicz Research Network.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Science Dariusz Wieczorek, the mayor of Katowice dr Marcin Krupa, the president of the Łukasiewicz Research Network Andrzej Dybczyński, the rectors of universities included in the Academic Consortium - Katowice City of Science: prof. dr hab. Ryszard Koziołek (University of Silesia in Katowice, consortium leader), prof. dr hab. Władysław Szymański, Rector of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice), prof. dr hab. Grzegorz Hańderek (Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice), prof. dr hab. Grzegorz Juras, Rector of the Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice), prof. dr hab. med. Tomasz Szczepański (Medical University of Silesia in Katowice), prof. dr hab.Eng. Celina Olszak (University of Economics in Katowice) and vice-rector dr hab.Eng. Tomasz Trawinski, prof. of the Silesian University of Technology
