A day with Erasmus at Academic Secondary Comprehensive School (ALO) in Gliwice

Presentation of the Erasmus offer for secondary and primary school pupils, a theatre performance of Snow White in English, German and French, as well as interactive reading workshops - this is what the Day with Erasmus looked like, which took place at the Academic Secondary Comprehensive School in Gliwice.

Pupils and teachers from primary schools from Gliwice and the Gliwice poviat were invited to the event. The meeting was an occasion to present the opportunities offered to young people by participating in this project.

– We are organizing an Erasmus day for the first time. In this way, we decided to summarize our activities in this area and invite primary school pupils to whom we want to show what else we will do in terms of international cooperation - said dr Małgorzata Borysławska, director of ALO in Gliwice.

So far, pupils of ALO in Gliwice have visited Spain, Turkey and Malta , as well as Belgium, Slovakia, Germany, Romania and Italy as part of the Erasmus program.

ALO pupils told their younger colleagues about their experiences. Among them was Benjamin Kopiec, a third-grade pupil who visited Turkey as part of Erasmus.

– Participation in this project is a huge opportunity for us. First of all, we can learn about other cultures from the perspective of the families that host us. No guide will tell us so much about his country. It is also an opportunity to overcome the language barrier and participate in an interesting project. In my case, it concerned astronomy and ecology. I also met interesting people and I still keep in touch with my friend from Turkey, said Benjamin.

During the event, the Erasmus offer was presented by Marta Iwańska from the National Agency of the Erasmus+ Program.

– This program gives young people great opportunities. First of all, these are trips abroad, and participation in such a project improves their soft, linguistic and management skills, teaches them independence and opens their worldview to other cultures - emphasizes Marta Iwańska.

At the end of the Erasmus Day, pupils received a set of 12 books by various European authors translated into Polish.
