A book about distinguished professor Tadeusz Teodorowicz-Todorowski
We are pleased to inform you that a biography of Professor Tadeusz Teodorowicz-Todorowski is now available in print.
The publication is published 24 years after his death. It is a collective work of an author's group (Andrzej Mokrosz, Barbara Rubińska-Joncza, Jacek Rybarkiewicz, Halina Wałęga-Chwastek and Elżbieta Zielińska-Kała) edited by Ewa Kononowicz.
The book was created thanks to the involvement of the Civil Engineering Branch of the Association of Students of the Silesian University of Technology, which conducts, among other things, publishing activities concerning the broadly understood history of the Faculty and the University.
The title of the book “TTT – the colourful bird” is probably the most accurate term for a distinguished professor. In the history of the Faculty, and even the entire University, he has been inscribed as an extremely colourful and unconventional figure.
He was born in Lviv in 1907. There he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Lviv Polytechnic in 1931 and worked – with success – at the university and in his profession until the end of the Second World War.
He arrived in Gliwice, as part of the repatriation campaign, in October 1945, with deep conviction about the mission of transplantation of the tradition of his Alma Mater of the Lviv University of Technology - especially Architecture - to the area of the new, resurgent Poland and the new Silesian University of Technology. Almost immediately, on November 1, he was engaged as a deputy professor in the Department of Urban Planning and Housing at the Faculty of Engineering and Construction. It was one and four Departments of the Silesian University of Technology established by the decree of the President of the National Council on 24 May 1945
The professor pursued his mission tirelessly – with the support of many others – until 1977, when the Faculty of Architecture was established on 23 September. Three months earlier, Tadeusz T. Todorowski retired as an ordinary architect professor at the age of 70, without losing his ties with the University in the following years.
The resulting book about the professor is a story in which the authors tried to show him as a man with his feelings and emotions; who fulfilled his mission as an architect, urban planner and academic teacher; but also pursued his life passions, including poetry, painting, photography, sports and travel. All of this is reflected in the memories of friends. The book also contains a detailed calendar of the professor’s life and achievements.
