800 donuts for the 80th anniversary of the Silesian University of Technology in Katowice campus of the University
The second meeting of the University authorities and students took place at the Katowice campus of the Silesian University of Technology under the slogan “800 donuts for the 80th anniversary of the Silesian University of Technology”. The event, as in Gliwice, attracted hundreds of students.
- It is a great opportunity to meet students in a relaxed atmosphere, talk and see smiles on their faces, take a photo together, just get to know each other. In addition to the students, there are also Vice-Rectors, Dean’s and University employees who come to spend time in this pleasant atmosphere – said Professor Marek Pawełczyk, the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology.
- "800 donuts for the 80th anniversary of the Silesian University of Technology" - this is a fantastic event. We have received a lot of positive energy from these young people. This will certainly strengthen us for further, long months of holding office at the Silesian University of Technology. We want our students to be close to us, to be able to decide on their educational path, to choose as many subjects as possible that interest them, but also to celebrate together with us – added the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education, Prof. Anna Chrobok
Today’s ceremony was also attended by the Deans of the Katowice campus.
- This event is not only a unique opportunity for a sweet treat, but above all for a short exchange of opinions and a conversation between students and the Rector's authorities. Such openness is very important, and we appreciate this opportunity - said Dr Hab. Eng. Grzegorz Sierpiński, prof. SUT, Dean of the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering at SUT.
- The face-to-face meeting of young people with the Rector is certainly a great event for them. While students see the deans of their faculties on the corridors of campuses, meeting with the Rector is not an everyday thing, so such initiatives are received as positively as possible – emphasized Professor Krzysztof Nowacki, Dean of the Faculty of Materials Engineering.
The words of the Dean’s Office are confirmed by students of the Katowice campus, who came in large numbers for today’s ceremony. “This is a great initiative, and I hope that it is a good sign of further good cooperation,” said Konrad, a third-year student of Railway Transport.
- I believe that it is a phenomenon, even on the scale of universities all over Silesia, that the Rector comes out to students with such an initiative that you can talk about various topics related to the University - added Bartłomiej, a student of the 5th Year of Railway Transport
The meeting with the Rector was graced with a concert of a string band, there was also a competition with prizes related to the 80th anniversary of the Silesian University of Technology. The next meeting is already on December 4 at 12:00 in the main hall in EHTIC in Zabrze at ul Roosevelta 40A.
