6th edition of the International Interdisciplinary Conference of Doctoral Students from Technical Universities - InterTechDoc'2021
Nearly 60 speakers, presentation of research results, training and exchange of experience – it was the International Interdisciplinary Conference of Doctoral Students from Technical Universities - InterTechDoc'2021, which was held for the 6th time. The meeting was organised by the University Council of Doctoral Students’ Self-Government in cooperation with the Office for Persons with Disabilities at the Silesian University of Technology and the Student Career Office.
These were three days filled with presentations, papers and training. During the meeting, young scientists presented their achievements and the areas, which they deal with in their scientific work.
The topics of training and discussions were quite broad. Doctoral students could learn how to use design thinking in science, how to solve team conflicts and also learn about business models as the basis for a start-up concept. Other training concerned the art of presentation and public speaking, as well as web resources as advanced tools for searching and selecting information. Participants of the conference were also introduced to the subject of the needs of disabled persons. A guest of the meeting was Stanisław Cieśla PhD, Eng. from IBM, who conducted a workshop titled: "Leader vs. He conducted a workshop entitled "Leader vs. Manager".
During the closing ceremony of the conference, the Vice Rector for Infrastructure and Promotion, Professor Tomasz Trawiński PhD, DSc distributed diplomas and prizes for the best papers.
During the conference, there was also a joint meeting of PhD students and students of the Silesian University of Technology, who also participated in the "School of Leaders". The meeting was an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience. For the students, it was also an opportunity to learn about the achievements and success of their older colleagues who chose their scientific careers at the Silesian University of Technology. Doctoral students handed over small gifts to students encouraging them to develop their scientific passions.
A significant role in the organisation of the event was played by Amadeus Jagieła-Zając, the chairman of the University Council of Doctoral Students' Self-Government. It is thanks to his determination, persistence and efforts that it was possible to carry out this event in an in-person mode, which due to the pandemic, could not take place on a fixed date.
