15th anniversary of SKN (Student Research Club) Safe Wall
The Safe Wall student research club is already 15 years old. The organization operates at the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation. Members of the club deal not only with issues related to the exploitation of deposits, but also health and safety in industry and education of children and youth in the field of safety.
The celebration of the 15th anniversary took place on November 24th, 2022, with the participation of current and former members of the club.
- During these 15 years of operation, over 220 people have come here. We managed to implement many projects and win many awards. Students have many ideas all the time, it is a great pleasure to work with them - said Dr. Eng. Aneta Grodzicka, the supervisor of the club.
SKN Safe Wall has many successes to its credit. In 2021, students created an application that can be used in first aid. This year, they won the 1st place in the Innovations in Industry EXPO Katowice competition for the design of the solitary confinement at the faculty.
- Students of the club also designed a model of a backpack and a modular bag for tourists and rescuers, thanks to which the rescuer will have all the necessary things at hand when helping the injured - said Jan Starzyk, chairman of the club.
An important part of the club's activity is the development of students' scientific and organizational passion by promoting broadly understood safety for children and youth. Thanks to cooperation with the industry, not only mining, but members of the club can also test their projects and implement them. The most interesting ones include work boards for rescue devices, stretchers for victims, various types of safety instructions, infographics, communication, water bag, selection of personal protective equipment.
The students carried out a lot of interesting scientific research, the results of which they presented at scientific conferences. For many years, members of the club have also successfully participated in mining knowledge competitions.
