14th International Conference on Boiler Technology Poland 2022
On October 25th -28th 2022, the 14th ICBT INTERNATIONAL BOILER CONFERENCE took place at the Klimczok Hotel in Szczyrk. The Conference Poland 2022 has been organized under the Honorary Patronage of His Magnificence Rector of the Silesian University of Technology and the President of the Office of Technical Inspection in Warsaw.
The conference has been organized every 4 years for 58 years and is recognized by specialists as one of the largest thematic boiler conferences in the world. The main organizer of the conference is the Department of Power Engineering and Turbomachinery of the Silesian University of Technology (KMiUE) with the participation of the Office of Technical Inspection. The scientific patronage over the conference was taken by the Energy Problems Committee and the Thermodynamics and Combustion Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and media patronage was provided by the Energy Market Information Centre CIRE.pl and gigawatt infoenergy, INSTAL and Nowa Energia magazines.
This year's edition gathered more than 135 participants from 135 companies, including 12 foreign ones, constituting a wide group of domestic and foreign scientists and specialists in boiler technology and power engineering from universities, industry institutes, design offices, boiler factories, power plants and other users of boiler equipment. The conference was also attended by students of scientific clubs (SKN of Boilers and Power Engineering named after Prof. Marceli Baran, SKN of Clean Energy Technologies and KN of Energy and Environmental Protection from the Cracow University of Technology), a total of almost 400 people.
The official opening of the conference was made by the chairman of the Scientific and Program Council prof. dr hab. Eng. Tadeusz Chmielniak, full member of PAN, chairman of the Organizing Committee prof. dr hab. Eng. Marek Pronobis and Vice-Rector of the Silesian University of Technology for cooperation with the socio-economic environment prof. dr hab. Eng. Janusz Kotowicz, as well as industry representatives. Prof. J.Kotowicz presented a presentation entitled "The Silesian Technical University. Science-Prestige-Innovation".
In the historical session, jubilee celebrations dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Power Engineering and Turbomachinery were held, during which the most important events from the history of the Institute (now the Department) were presented.
Since the 10th Jubilee Boiler Conference 2006, the Scientific and Program Council of the Conference, composed of 27 domestic and foreign scientists and specialists in the industry, expressing its will with successive Edicts, bestows the Honorary Title - Miles Energeticae, on outstanding specialists of various professions, who have worked for many decades for the development of the Polish Power Industry (Energy Knight). This year, as part of historical ceremonies, 12 distinguished specialists in the field of energy were awarded the insignia of the title, which is a sabre - Karabela Polska - and the appropriate personal deed with the seal of ICBT Poland, confirming the right to the title and the sabre. This title is highly valued among the Energy Brothers, and so far, 69 bachelors and 1 lady have obtained it. The documents of the title, both in language and form, stylized for the 16th-17th century, with appropriate Latin inclusions, and the setting of the ceremony, accompanied by knights, shooters, historical cannons and music, invariably make an unforgettable impression on the conference participants. The sabres of the Knight of Energy were handed over to prof. T.Chmielniak, prof. J.Kotowicz and prof. M. Pronobis.
The substantive subject matter of the conference covered almost 100 papers and communications that were reviewed by independent researchers from various units. All papers were presented by the authors as part of Thematic Sessions. There were also problem exhibitions of companies and institutions and two Sessions of Scientific and Technical Information, during which papers and announcements on new achievements and technical solutions were presented. Both the Conference and the published scientific and technical materials are very popular among specialists.
