The Faculty of Electrical Engineering boasts a European perspective of development for young people

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology is a good place to study – pupils of secondary schools were convinced about it during workshops and meetings with scientists of this Faculty. The event took place on 23 April as part of the City-Region-Academy project and is part of the celebrations of the European City of Science Katowice 2024.

European perspectives of education and work in the future – such an offer of studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering was presented to primary school pupils by the employees of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology. On 23 April 2024, a meeting was held here, during which it was proved that the Faculty of Electrical Engineering offers many opportunities for development in the modern industry.

"We want to show young people and secondary school teachers in the region what role electricity will play in the European Union and in these transformations that we are currently experiencing, in the process of transformation, and what role will be played by experts in this field," explained Dr Eng. Rafał Setlak, Vice-Dean for education at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology.

- As a faculty, we have been dealing with this subject for years, so we decided to show specific links of our experts with the specialties in which they educate. These experts will be sought after in the market in the coming years. With full conviction, we tell young people that by studying in these specialties they can count on a secure and well-paid job in the future – added the Vice-Dean.

Young people learned about the perspectives of development in the energy and electricity industry by participating in lectures and workshops. Topics covered electric and electronic vehicles, machines and measuring systems. Pupils also visited laboratories equipped with modern equipment, where classes are held on a daily basis.

There are currently around two hundred jobs for electrical engineers needed on the market. These numbers should sound encouraging, we add to this an attractive offer of education in modern laboratories and in cooperation with industry – adds the Vice-Dean Setlak.

What is more, those eager to broaden their horizons and make a career, including a scientific one, in this discipline, can additionally gain international experience while studying at the Silesian University of Technology. Young people learned what opportunities await them in this area, among others during trips from the Erasmus program, but also thanks to the initiatives of the EUREKA PRO university, to which also the Silesian University of Technology belongs.

The event at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering took place within the City-Region-Academy project and the European City of Science Katowice 2024.
