We Have Met the Winners of the Competition: "Social Media in Shaping Sustainable Awareness"
An event featuring Marcin Prokop accompanied the conclusion of the competition "Social Media in Shaping Sustainable Awareness", organized by the Department of Applied Social Sciences and the Cognitive Technologies Scientific Club "Cognitus."
"The competition aims to popularize the ideas of environmental respect and responsible use of natural resources among young people. It also highlights the role of modern social communication tools in spreading these values," emphasized Prof. Aleksandra Kuzior, Dean of the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology, who initiated and coordinated the project.
On November 27, 2024, a special event took place at the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology. In the presence of Prof. Bożena Skołud, Vice-Rector for General Affairs of the Silesian University of Technology, the winners were announced. Among dozens of submitted films, the jury awarded the video titled "Love Before It's Too Late", created by Paulina Rogóż from Środa Śląska, featuring Katarzyna Syska and Julita Tomaszewska. The creators will receive a prize valued at 1,730 PLN in the form of MasterCard codes redeemable in physical and online stores across Poland, with the option of cash withdrawals from ATMs. Additionally, seven honorable mentions were awarded, each valued at 500 PLN in MasterCard codes. Congratulations to all the winners!
Marcin Prokop, a journalist, author, and prominent television personality, delivered a speech highlighting ways to realize career dreams and plans in a world dominated by social media. The topic was further explored from a journalist's perspective by Przemysław Jedlecki from Gazeta Wyborcza.
The competition was organized by the Department of Applied Social Sciences at the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology and the Cognitive Technologies Scientific Club "Cognitus" as part of the European City of Science Katowice 2024 under the City-Region-Academia initiative. The competition was held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloska; the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, Wojciech Saługa; and the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Marek Pawełczyk. Media patronage was provided by Dziennik Zachodni and Gazeta Wyborcza.
