Distinguished Professor Paulo B. Lourenço from the University of Minho will visit the Silesian University of Technology!
On behalf of the Dean's College of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, we cordially invite you to the open meetings and lectures of Professor Paulo B. Lourenço:
- 21 October, 10:00 - Lecture entitled ‘Preserving Heritage, Pioneering Tomorrow: Academic Excellence from Research Power and Professional Excellence’. Hall E, Education and Congress Centre of the Silesian University of Technology.
- 22 October, 10am - Lecture entitled ‘Reinventing Masonry for Building Conservation and Sustainable Development’. Hall 118, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Silesian University of Technology.
Prof. Paulo B. is head of the research group at the Faculty of Building at the aforementioned university. He is the President of ICOMOS ISCARSAH or the International Scientific Committee on the Conservation of Historical Monuments.
He has extensive experience in the field of non-destructive testing, advanced experimental research, numerical analysis and innovative techniques for the repair and strengthening of structures.
He works in the field of restoration of monuments listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
He is the supervisor of more than 80 doctoral theses and has coordinated many international research projects.
He was awarded a prestigious Advanced ERC Grant awarded for the development of an integrated approach for seismic assessment of historic buildings.
