POB6. Seminar POB6.3. on recycling of waste electronic equipment was held.
On Tuesday, June 18, from 12:00 p.m., the Scientific Seminar of the Priority Research Area Climate and Environmental Protection, Modern Energy, Sub-area 3 - Closed-loop Economy (POB6.3) was held in Room 267 (Dean's Council Room - high first floor) at the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation.
The coordinators of this Research Sub-area are: Tomasz Suponik, Prof. at SUT, and Marcin Górski, Prof. at SUT.
The topic of the seminar: "Recycling of waste electronic equipment in accordance with the principles of closed-loop economy and sustainable production".
The guest speaker was Prof. Muammer Kaya, who will give a lecture entitled: "NdFeB permanent magnet recycling technologies".
A note about the Author and the content of the Seminar
Muammer Kaya - Professor at Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Turkey. Scientific interests: integrated eco-technology for the selective recovery of metals from mining waste by leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning. Electronic waste recycling and dismantling technologies.
Title of the presentation: “NdFeB permanent magnet recycling technologies”.
Abstract: Rare Earth (RE) permanent NdFeB magnets are essential components for successful green and digital transition. The presentation will discuss the properties, recycling potential, and critical raw material state-of-the-art recycling technologies of waste NdFeB magnets. Different recycling technology fundamentals, advantages and drawbacks for pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, electro-chemistry, direct recycling, and hybrid processes will be discussed. For sustainable development, low energy consumption, lowest environmental risks, and a closed-loop system are the primary objectives of the NdFeB recycling processes.
