Flying Road University
The sixth edition of the Flying Road University workshop was held at the Academic Gliding Center of the Rzeszów University of Technology on Bezmiechowa Gora from 15-17.10.2023. The Flying Road University (LUD) was established in 2018 by employees of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Bialystok University of Technology (Dr. Eng. Marta Wasilewska) and the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Lublin University of Technology (Dr. Eng. Janusz Bohatkiewicz, who currently represents the Cracow University of Technology). They also invited employees of the Research and Development Department of ORLEN Asphalt Sp. z o.o. (Director Dr. Krzysztof Blazejowski). ORLEN Asfalt is the main sponsor of the workshop. Over the next few years, LUD was joined by Rzeszow University of Technology, Gdansk University of Technology, Cracow University of Technology and in 2022 by Silesian University of Technology. LUD is mainly oriented towards educational and research activities. It is supposed to raise educational standards, and above all it is supposed to be an event that will function beyond university divisions and integrate the academic community. Topics of narrow specialization are carried out at individual universities. During the Flying University Workshop, scientists exchange knowledge and share it with students. This year's Workshop was further enhanced by a number of attractions, including an integration dinner, a lecture by glider pilot Arkadiusz Bolanda, and a technical excursion to the construction of a tunnel in the course of the S-19 road in the town of Babica. At this year's workshop, the Faculty of Civil Engineering was represented by members of the TARMAC Student Research Circle, students of the fifth and seventh semesters of the road specialty: Aleksandra Galus, Aleksandra Anuszewska, Julia Mordarska, Julia Pogoda, Paweł Dronszczyk, Kacper Majkowski under the supervision of Dr. Adrian Ciolczyk, Dr. Bartłomiej Grzesik and Dr. Konrad Walotek of the Department of Geotechnics and Roads.
