At the Silesian Planetarium about AI in drones and robotics

Who's right? Open AI supporters or opponents? Or maybe the discussion is over, and it is better to present the benefits of using AI to analyse huge amounts of data obtained by all kinds of robots?

You will find answers to these and other questions during the 10th Droniada, which will take place from 1st to 4th June 2023 in Park Śląski and at the Katowice-Muchowiec airport.

The Silesian University of Technology is a co-organizer of this event for the second time. A part of 10th Droniada under the honorary patronage of the Head of the National Security Bureau is the Droniada Tech by Silesian University of Technology conference.

Conference schedule: Droniada Tech - program

The 10th Droniada will start with the Droniada Challenge by Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation competition on Thursday, June 1st at Pola Marsowe in Park Śląski. The competition is one of the most difficult technology competitions in the world combining computer science, mechatronics and robotics with aviation. Both academic and open teams as well as individuals can take part in it. Participants choose one or more field events (there are 5 of them).

Then, the two-day Droniada Tech by Silesian University of Technology conference will take place at the Silesian Planetarium (June 1st -2nd). The main topic of the conference is the positive aspects related to the use of AI in drones and robotics, but also reflection on the way of educating, for example, IT specialists, whether advanced programs can be prepared with the help of AI in the blink of an eye. We will also look at how the first drone war, which is taking place in Ukraine, affects social acceptance for aerial robotics.

The finale of the 10th Droniada will be the Droniada Expo & Kids exhibition and shows, which will take place on June 4th (Sunday) at Pola Marsowe. The war in Ukraine has significantly reduced public acceptance of drones. It turned out that flying cameras, so far perceived as drones, are also very valuable weapons. This worries the societies of countries belonging to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and is a significant barrier to the development of services based on aerial robotics. The aim of the exhibition and demonstrations is therefore to present the benefits of using flying robots, e.g. in environmental protection or in the energy sector, and to eliminate social fears. The best medicine is the education of children and youth.
