Junior & Senior Polytechnic
On Saturday, March 18, at 11:30 a.m., a class entitled "Conjured from Blocks" was held at the Center for New Technologies in Gliwice as part of the Junior and Senior Polytechnics. Representation of the Department of Building Engineering and Building Physics of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, consisting of Dr. Eng. Krzysztof Tytkowski, Dr. Eng. Piotr Dudzik, Dr. Eng. arch. Ewa Terczynska and Anita Pawlak-Jakubowska, Ph.D., conducted a workshop on the issues of existing bonds in masonry. The youngest science enthusiasts as well as their caregivers, through the game of stacking bricks - bricks - gained knowledge of many interesting facts related to construction. The main actor of the meeting was the brick, and here the presenters in the lecture part brought the interested parties information about the technical data of the material, the production process or its use in construction. In turn, the workshop presented the most common bonds in masonry. Then, in accordance with the knowledge gained, young "Students" laid masonry bonds using prepared bricks. At the end of the meeting gifts were given in the form of bookmarks with described laid bonds.
