Professor Paulo B. Lourenço will visit the Silesian University of Technology

On 21-22 October, the Silesian University of Technology will be visited by the eminent professor Paulo B. Lourenço from the University of Minho. He is the head of the research group at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the said University. He is the President of ICOMOS ISCARSAH, the International Scientific Committee on the Protection of Heritage Sites. He has extensive experience in the field of non-destructive testing, advanced experimental research, numerical analysis and innovative techniques of repair and reinforcement of structures.

Prof. Paulo B. Lourenço is working on the restoration of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. He is a promoter of over eighty doctoral theses and has coordinated many international research projects.

The professor was also awarded the prestigious Advanced ERC Grant for the development of an integrated approach to seismic assessment of historic buildings.

On Tuesday, October 22, in the hall 118 of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology, at 10:00 you will be able to listen to a lecture: Reinventing Masonry for Building Conservation and Sustainable Development.
