Silesian University of Technology will train aircraft mechanics in category B3
The Training Organization of Technicians of Technical Service of the Silesian University of Technology has obtained the rights to train aviation mechanics to the next category B3 - piston aircraft with a non-hermetic cabin, with a permissible take-off weight of up to 2000 kg This is the fourth category in which students are educated in the field of Transport - specialization in Mechanics and Aviation Operations.
The university also provides training up to the Aviation Mechanics license level category B1.1. - Aircraft with turbine engines, B1.2 - aircraft with piston engines, B1.3 - helicopters with turbine engines.
The training in category B3 includes theoretical and practical training of 1000 clock hours. - It is important that the whole training will be carried out on the basis of instructors and the training base of the Civil Aviation Personnel Training Centre of Central and Eastern Europe at the Silesian University of Technology at the Gliwice-Trynek airport. In the current academic year, we intend to conduct recruitment and start training of thirty students of Aviation and Space Engineering - after the second semester of the First cycle studies - said Dr Hab. Eng. Jarosław Kozuba, Prof. SUT, director Civil Aviation Personnel Training Centre of Central and Eastern Europe.
Training of aviation mechanics is provided free of charge as part of the subsidy of the Minister of Infrastructure received annually for the training of aviation personnel and maintenance of aviation training centres of the Silesian University of Technology.
