Jubilee edition of the Science Populariser competition

The 20th anniversary edition of the Science Populariser competition has started. The Science in Poland website and the Polish Press Agency Foundation invite scientists and science popularisers to report their activities.

The idea of the competition is to appreciate the contribution to popularizing science, speaking and writing about it in such a way that even the most complicated research processes are understandable to everyone. It is addressed to scientists, journalists, animators, teams and institutions that explain to others how the world works.

Applications can be sent until September 15. Candidates should be submitted using the form available on the “Nauka w Polsce” website (https://naukawpolsce.pl/popularyzator/formularz).

The competition rules are also available there. The reported activity should last no less than 2 years. The results are scheduled to be announced in December 2024.

Prizes will be awarded in five categories:

  • The award in the "scientist" category can be applied for by people popularizing science with a doctoral degree and more;
  • The award in the "animator" group is open to people conducting individual popularization activities, without academic degrees or titles, e.g. students and doctoral students, university administrative employees.
  • The „team” category is for teams of people popularizing science compete - created, for example, by scientists, popularization animators, science clubs, people working on joint projects for popularization, science animators in institutions such as museums.
  • There is also an "institution" category - for scientific institutions (e.g. institutes, university units), non-scientific institutions (e.g. non-governmental organizations, science centres) or enterprises.
  • The "media" category includes, among others: journalists, media editorial teams, bloggers and websites creating teams. The jury also selects the main prize winner who has exceptional achievements in the field of popularization.
