Podcast “Let's talk about science” nominated for the POP Science Award of the Silesian Science Festival
We are pleased to announce that in the fifth edition of the competition for the POP Science Award of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE in the podcast or radio broadcast category, podcast of the Silesian University of Technology, “Let's talk about science,” was nominated for the award.
The "Let's talk about science" podcast has been produced by the Promotion and Communication Centre of the Silesian University of Technology since February 2023. During this time, by the end of April 2024, it reached over 14,000 recipients via streaming channels, including: Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and Transistor.fm.
From the end of February 2023 to July 2024, we have already produced sixty-five episodes in which we talk about scientific projects implemented at the Silesian University of Technology.
We conduct conversations with guests - students, PhD students and scientists in both Polish and English, thus reaching a wide audience. The topics we discuss, including non-scientific ones, are those that interest the entire society. We want to reach not only the academic community, but also listeners unrelated to the Silesian University of Technology, whom we attempt to convince that science has an impact on their everyday lives. Therefore, the topics of discussion include current problems, such as energy transformation, climate change, the impact of artificial intelligence on our everyday lives and cybersecurity education.
The POP Science Award competition has an open formula - anyone can submit their proposals. Then, the jury, which consists mainly of previous POP Science Award winners, awards points to the best proposals. This allows for three nominations to be selected in each of the five categories. The podcast "Let's talk about science" was among the three nominees in the podcast or radio broadcast category.
We are grateful for this nomination, which is an additional motivation to produce further episodes.
In the fall, we will move on to the second stage of the competition, i.e. online voting, which, together with the final votes of the Jury, will decide on the result.

The POP Science Awards will be presented during the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE 2024, scheduled for December 7, 8 and 9, 2024 at the International Congress Centre in Katowice.
