Rector’s meeting with the winners of scholarships of the Minister of Science and Higher Education

The Senate Hall hosted a solemn meeting of the authorities of the Silesian University of Technology with students who received scholarships from the Minister of Science and Higher Education for significant scientific, artistic, or sporting achievements. This year, eighteen students of our University received them.

- “Among all technical universities, Silesian University of Technology has the largest number of students awarded with this scholarship. – It is a confirmation of the quality of education at our university. On the one hand, we have very talented and engaged young people who want to study and develop also outside the study program, and on the other hand, such a large number of awarded students shows that our study programs are appealing and they attract the most talented students” – said the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk

– “The youth at our university is not only very talented and hardworking, but also wants and can use all the opportunities offered to them by the Silesian University of Technology” – added the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education, Prof. Wojciech Szkliniarz.

Students of our university, apart from the traditional curriculum, can work in science clubs, carry out projects or take part in mentoring programs.

– “We try to make studies at the Silesian University of Technology friendly, flexible, so that they give a chance to realize students’ interests and dreams, hence a very large share of project-oriented education. We also extend it to problem-oriented education, we introduce elective courses, so that each student can supplement his or her knowledge to the extent he or she wants” – emphasizes the Rector of the University.

Among the awarded for scientific achievements was Patryk Prychodko, a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture. – “This scholarship is the culmination of the entire course of my studies. I was admitted to the Faculty of Architecture from the reserve list, but the university offers so many opportunities and tools that I could develop my potential” – says our graduate.-  “This versatility of the offer has incredible potential and I believe that everyone will find something for themselves to achieve success,” added Patryk Prychodko.

I am glad that these efforts have had such an effect. Now I plan to go for a doctorate in order to expand these scientific achievements” – he emphasizes.

As Agnieszka Stawinoga – another student awarded with the scholarship of the minister, points out, - “Such an award is undoubtedly an incentive to continue a scientific career. Now I am going to do internship in Porto, Portugal, but later I would like to come back and do a PhD at the Silesian University of Technology” – she emphasizes.

- “It is very important that young people, seeing that they are appreciated, want to stay at the university and expand their knowledge and then share it with others” – said the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education Prof. Wojciech Szkliniarz. – “It is very valuable that young people want to stay with us, especially in today’s market realities, where the industry willingly employs them” – adds the Vice-Rector.
