Silesian University of Technology hosted Young Scholars of the Polish Academy of Sciences
On 18-19 April, at the Silesian University of Technology, the General Meeting of the Members of the Academy of Young Scholars of the Polish Academy of Sciences was held.
The session of the Academy of Young Scholars in the Senate Hall was opened by Prof. Marek Pawełczyk, Vice-Rector for Science and Development, and Prof. Maciej Sałaga, President of the Academy of Young Scholars of the Polish Academy of Sciences, who welcomed representatives of universities and research centres from all over Poland.
- I am a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, I know what problems this scientific community is struggling with. I know that you are creative, you offer many valuable solutions, so I wish you a fruitful meeting within the walls of the Silesian University of Technology – said Vice-Rector Pawełczyk.
On the second day of the meeting, the representatives of the Academy of Young Scholars of the Polish Academy of Sciences also met with the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology and the chairman of CRASP – Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Arkadiusz Mężyk and the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Prof. Marek Konarzewski.
The Silesian University of Technology in the Academy of Young Scholars of the Polish Academy of Sciences is represented on a daily basis by Dr Hab. Eng. Andrzej Katunin, prof SUT, who is the Vice President of Academy of Young Scholars (AMU).
- It was an extremely substantive meeting, which will be reflected in the activities of AMU for the benefit of Polish science in the near future - said Dr Hab. Eng. Andrzej Katunin, prof. of Silesian University of Technology – We deal with everything that happens around science – scientific policy, legislation, we issue many opinions and appeals. We discussed, among others, issues related to the need to increase funding for research of young scientists. Such an appeal will be addressed on our part to the Minister of Science and Higher Education – he added.
AMU also focuses on helping young scientists. It organizes meetings, trainings, and workshops, during which it teaches, among others, how to write projects well in order to obtain grants for its research.
