X Final of the Days of Gliwice Young Scientists
For the tenth time at the Silesian University of Technology, the Final of the Days of Gliwice Young Scientists was held. The jubilee edition gathered primary school pupils, secondary school pupils, teachers and representatives of the Silesian University of Technology in the auditorium of the Education and Congress Centre.
Days of Gliwice Young Scientists is an initiative that aims to develop interest in science among pupils and even preschoolers, motivate them to learn mathematical and natural subjects, as well as improve their self-presentation skills. It consists in competing in a number of competitions organized by Gliwice schools. Today the winners received congratulations and prizes.
– I am full of appreciation for all of you – said congratulating the winners Mariusz Śpiewok, Vice President of Gliwice. – Participation in such extraordinary projects as this one is not only about gaining knowledge, it is primarily about learning how to approach new challenges in an unusual way, how to think creatively, how to share knowledge and cooperate with others. Thanks to these skills, you are already better prepared for the challenges you will face in the future,” the president said.
The competition took place within the Academy of the Youngest Scientist addressed to pre-school groups and competitions for Primary Schools. Three-person teams took part in competitions: mathematical, chemical-physical, biological, natural sciences. For the first time this year, an IT competition was organized for two-person teams.

“I would like to congratulate you on your success and wish you more in the future,” said the professor Anna Chrobok, director of the College of Studies at the Silesian University of Technology – and since we are talking about the future, I invite you to implement joint projects with us, with our students, it will be easier for you to decide which field of study to choose – added professor Chrobok inviting pupils to study at the Silesian University of Technology.
During the 10th Final of the Days of Gliwice Young Scientists, pupils could get acquainted with the offer of education of the Silesian University of Technology, as well as hear from students what they do as part of their activities in scientific circles. Robodog presented by the Student Scientific Circle AI-METH and the Mars rover of the Silesian Phoenix Student Scientific Circle aroused great interest and a lot of questions from the audience.
– I really liked this year, especially the presentations of students and their work – said Adam Klonek, a student of the 4th Secondary Comprehensive School in Gliwice – on a daily basis at school, unfortunately, we do not have contact with technical novelties.
– It was really interesting, I am only in the first grade, I still have a lot of time to decide which studies to choose, but I think that I will probably study at the Silesian University of Technology in the future – added Krzysztof Baron, a student of the 4th Secondary Comprehensive School in Gliwice.
