High position of Silesian University of Technology in the latest edition of THE World University Rankings by Subject
Times Higher Education has announced the results of the prestigious World University Rankings by Subject 2024. The Silesian University of Technology (SUT) has been ranked in the 4 fields for which it provides data: Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Business and Economics, and Engineering, achieving some of the best results among universities in Poland.
THE World University Rankings by Subject (WUR) are prepared by the British magazine Times Higher Education. In the current edition, universities were assessed in 11 subjects: Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Clinical and Health, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Psychology and Social Sciences.
In the area of ‘Engineering’, Silesian University of Technology was ranked between 801 and 1000, together with Warsaw University of Technology, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poznan University of Technology and Opole University of Technology. In this category, we have seen a significant increase compared to last year, particularly in the criteria of research quality and research environment, as well as international outlook. A total of 1,374 institutions from all over the world were included in this category, including 16 from Poland. Gdansk University of Technology and AGH were the highest ranked institutions.
In the 'Computer Science' category, the SUT once again scored in the 601-800 range, together with such institutions as AGH, Gdansk University of Technology, Jagiellonian University and Warsaw University of Technology. The University of Warsaw was the best in the country.
In ‘Business and Economics’ area, the Silesian University of Technology was again ranked between 601 and 800, together with the Gdansk University of Technology, the University of Warsaw, the Warsaw School of Economics, AGH, the Wroclaw University of Science Technology, the Bialystok University of Technology and the Nicolaus Coernicus University in Torun. The Jagiellonian University and the Rzeszów University of Technology were the best rated Polish institutions in this category.
In the Physical Sciences category, the Silesian University of Technology was ranked between 801 and 1000, as were Gdansk University of Technology, Poznan University of Technology and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. The highest ranking university in this field was the University of Warsaw.
