Educating staff for the Just Transformation of Silesia

The Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation of the Silesian University of Technology, together with Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, are launching staff training for the Just Transformation of Silesia. The contract was signed on October 11, 2023, at the Silesian University of Technology.

The agreement signed between the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation of the Silesian University of Technology and Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa SA covers, among others, the search for solutions that create lasting and effective cooperation in the field of creating modernization models of effective education, supporting the transformation of the teaching, learning system and improving the professional qualifications of industry employees. 4.0. This is only possible by involving the stakeholders of vocational education in the environment of universities, institutions and industry companies in the change process.

The first tangible effect of the signed agreement is the joint launch of postgraduate studies "Technical and natural transformation of transformed areas."

- The signed agreement is an element of the faculty's new strategy, which I would like to present to the university Senate on the occasion of St. Barbara's Day celebrations in December this year. A strategy that strongly fits into the Development and Transformation of our Region. I would like to thank Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa for the trust it has placed in us, and Minister Piotr Pyzik for his commitment and support of our initiatives - said Prof. Franciszek Plewa, dean of the faculty.

The studies were intended by the originators to revive the enthusiasm and creativity of engineers leaving the Silesian University of Technology, to release new layers of interesting concepts of adapting natural processes and the functioning of the ecosystem mosaic to make optimal decisions that minimize the limitations of the functioning of the natural environment in the industrial tissue of Silesia.

- I am pleased with this agreement, I have always believed that the Silesian University of Technology, and especially the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering, and Industrial Automation, is the beating heart of the dynamically changing most important region of our country. The civilizational transformation of Silesia will be planned and implemented differently than in the rest of Europe: green and blue, taking into account the vital needs of people living in the Region - said Piotr Pyzik, Minister of MAP, Plenipotentiary for Social Dialogue.

- The studies are intended to allow engineers to holistically approach the changes taking place around us. They are intended to support investors in searching for and transforming degraded areas for future investments, along with obtaining funds aimed at restoring the converted areas to their utility value - say prof. Gabriela Wożniak from the University of Silesia, responsible for the prepared educational program.

Recruitment for postgraduate studies "Technical and natural transformation of transformed areas", the first studies preparing for the socio-economic transformation of the Silesian Voivodeship, lasts until the end of October. Details at: https://rekrutacja.polsl.pl/kierunek/spd-transtechprzyr/.
