EURECA-PRO with another European project
A consortium composed of universities belonging to the EURECA-PRO alliance received a positive evaluation of the HI-EURECA-PRO project application, submitted as part of the Horizon WIDERA competition. The project, in which the Silesian University of Technology will play an important role, is planned for the years 2024-2027 and will concern innovations related to cultural, industrial and mining heritage.
The HI-EURECA-PRO project is the result of closer cooperation between the universities that are part of the EURECA-PRO European university, which has been in the making for three years now. This time, universities from Austria, Germany, Greece, Poland, Belgium, Spain and Romania will jointly start work on the issue of sustainable economic and social development resulting from the regional heritage in Poland, Greece and Romania and on identifying best practices in supporting heritage-based innovation in region and beyond as part of pan-European and international cooperation.
The main objective of the HI-EURECA-PRO project is to achieve research excellence of the university, built on the regional heritage in the three above-mentioned "widening" countries, whose activities will be supported by other EURECA-PRO partners. To achieve this goal, three demos have been planned, based on industrial, cultural and mining heritage. The Silesian University of Technology will be responsible for issues related to industrial heritage in the project. The subject of green and digital transformation of industry will be the guiding principle of activities aimed at pilot implementation of methods for sharing research infrastructure under the EURECA-PRO alliance, increasing the global competitiveness of scientists through dedicated internship programs and workshops, sharing good practices through mobility programs and finally engaging citizens around transition challenges and future skills.
The planned activities will include, among others, the establishment of the EURECA-PRO Digital Transformation Hub, the development and conduct of seminars and training for academic and non-academic employees, as well as training and internships for doctoral students and young scientists related to the issues of Industry 4.0 and digital transformation, protection of intellectual property, implementation of innovations or preparation high-quality European project proposals. The project will also address the social aspects of the digital transformation of industry by engaging the socio-economic environment in the form of seminars and discussion panels on the skills and competences of the future. One of the planned effects will be the development and pilot implementation of courses to improve the competences of employees affected by the digital transformation of the industry.
