Meeting of Vice-Rectors of Technical Universities
On June 5-7, 2023, at the Stanisław Staszic AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, a conference of merged colleges was held: Vice-Rectors for Science and Development of public technical universities and the College of Vice-Rectors for General Affairs, Development and Collaboration with the Civic and Economic Environment of public technical universities.
The meeting was led by prof. Rafał Wiśniowski – Vice-Rector for Collaboration of the AGH University of Science and Technology, prof. Artur Bejger - chairman of the College of Vice-Rectors for Science and Development of Public Higher Technical Schools and prof. Janusz Kotowicz – chairman of the College of Vice-Rectors for General Affairs, Development and Collaboration with the Civic and Economic Environment of public technical universities.
The conference was attended by over thirty representatives of university authorities. The Silesian University of Technology was represented by: Vice-Rector for Collaboration with the Civic and Economic Environment prof. dr hab. Eng. Janusz Kotowicz Vice-Rector for Science and Development prof. Marek Pawełczyk, Vice-Rector for General Affairs prof. dr hab. Eng. Bogusław Łazarz.
The guests were welcomed by the hosts of the meeting, The Rector of AGH, prof. dr hab. Eng. Jerzy Lis and Vice-Rector for Collaboration - prof. dr hab. Eng. Rafał Wiśniowski.
This time, the debates concerned the issues of evaluation and categorization. The main topics discussed were last year's evaluation and categorization, as well as the related perspectives and challenges, the "Science4Society. The discussion on this matter was preceded by the speeches of the Chairman of the Science Evaluation Committee, prof. Filip Szymański and prof. Zbigniew Kąkol - Member of the Science Evaluation Committee. The next session of the meeting concerned the Erasmus+ program in the context of supporting the development of an innovative economy.
During the meeting, the participation of universities in projects implemented by the National Centre for Research and Development was also discussed. The speakers were: Vice-Rector prof. Janusz Kotowicz, Vice-Rector for Development at the Warsaw University of Technology prof. Adam Woźniak and Vice-Rector for Science and Development of the Opole University of Technology prof. Grzegorz Królczyk. The speakers drew attention to the need to increase the financial participation of universities in the implementation of such projects.
During the meeting, an agreement was signed - Technical Universities Project Management Offices Forum - TUPMO Forum. The model of TUPMO's cooperation with financing institutions and the economic environment became the topic of one of the discussion panels.
