PBL competition at the Faculty of Materials Engineering in Katowice
At the Faculty of Materials Engineering in Katowice, a competition for the best project-oriented education project - PBL was held for the second time, as part of the Excellence Initiative - Research University program. The final took place on March 17th at the Faculty of Materials Engineering in Katowice and was combined with the National Day of Materials Engineering. The initiator and originator of the competition is the Vice-Dean for Cooperation and Development, prof. Janusz Adamiec.
13 projects were submitted to the competition. Each was presented in a few-minute lecture by representatives of student teams. The jury consisted of lecturers from the Faculty of Materials Engineering as well as teachers and students - representatives of secondary schools participating in the National Day of Materials Engineering. The jury selected the best projects in the field of materials engineering as well as industrial IT and production management.
The following projects were awarded in the competition:
1st place - Analysis of the possibility of recycling glass waste contaminated with plastics - Paulina Wojtala and Karolina Kalyta
2nd place - Design and production of usable structures for the Space of Innovation and Student Creativity of the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, Anna Mrowiec
3rd place - Aluminum alloys with improved properties due to the presence of lanthanides - Wojciech Papierniak
Distinction - Analysis of the properties and microstructure of low-carbon steel deformed with the unconventional hybrid SPD method - Michał Kostka and Norbert Tomaszkiewicz
