Exhibition of geometric Christmas decorations
At the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology, you can see an exhibition of unusual geometric Christmas tree decorations. They were made by students of the first year of construction.
Over 200 ornaments were created as part of the Descriptive Geometry and Technical Drawing subjects. Designing festive geometric figures is a long-standing tradition of these classes. This year, students were supposed to make geometric Christmas tree decorations.
– The assumptions of the work were that the ornament model could not be larger than 250 X 250 X 250 mm and not smaller than 150 X 150 X 25 mm. Its weight must not exceed 100 grams. Decorations had to be made of ecological materials and the price of the material should not exceed PLN 10 - said Dr Eng. Krzysztof Tytkowski from the Department of Building Processes and Building Physics.
The works inspired by geometry were made of various materials: paper, cardboard, wood, polystyrene, and each of them bears the logo of the Silesian University of Technology. The students showed great creativity.
– I think it is a very interesting form of classes that develops students' creativity. It's a bit of an escape from the reality we have every day. We can make a structure, make it from start to finish - said the student Miłosz Ostałowski
- It was a nice escape from everyday calculations and we could show creativity - adds Jakub Lewandowski.
The exhibition of geometric ornaments is another pre-Christmas event of students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. In previous years, they designed and implemented, among others: geometric Christmas tree. The exhibition can be viewed until January 6th, 2023.
