We support sport scientifically! We invite you to join the event on 18 May
How to make a smartphone a portable diagnostic laboratory, how to eat healthy and why bruxism is a medical problem? These and other questions will be answered by specialists in medicine, sport and technology on 18 May. The Science Popularization Centre invites you to join the event "We support sport scientifically".
"We support sport scientifically" is an event carried out at the Silesian University of Technology combining science, medicine and sport. On 18 May 2022 from 10:00 am and 3:00 pm it will take the form of an open event addressed to all those who are interested in an active and healthy lifestyle. The co-organiser of the event is the Medical University of Silesia.
After the official opening of the event, there will be a warm-up conducted by Aleksandra Bańbor – a coach, multiple champion of the Polish Academic Championships, former representative of the Polish national swimming team, and a student of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering. The short training will be an introduction to sports competitions, during which you will be able to test your fitness. Physical activity should also go hand in hand with a revitalising rest, therefore we encourage you to visit the chillout zone with good music, comfortable deckchairs and healthy snacks.
The event "We support sport scientifically" is an extraordinary opportunity to receive a tremendous load of knowledge about health, proper nutrition, prevention of civilisation diseases, stress reduction or physical activities and technologies supporting them. The lectures will be conducted by:
- Robert Michnik PhD, DSc, from the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering
- Karolina Walczyńska-Dragon MD, PhD, from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Medical University of Silesia,
- Tomasz Francuz MD, PhD, from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Medical University of Silesia,
- Oskar Kowalski MD, PhD from the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Medical University of Silesia,
- Héctor Paredes Suárez from the University of Leon in Spain.
Moreover, we will be able to advise young people from secondary schools on how to combine their sporting passions with scientific ones and how to choose the right field of study at the Silesian University of Technology - during the event, the participants will be able to visit a stand and learn about the University's studies offer.
The event "We support sport scientifically" will be held on 18 May from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on the promenade at ul. Akademicka 2.
