First competition in the "New Technologies in the field of Energy " programme

On 1st of September, the call for papers in the strategic programme "New Technologies in the field of Energy" will begin. The competition has been announced by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR). Nearly 380 million PLN may go to industry and science consortia. Funds will be allocated to projects in the field of onshore and offshore wind energy, hydrogen technologies, energy storage and energy/thermal microgrids.

The Strategic Research and Development Programme "New Technologies in the field of Energy" supports Poland in achieving climate neutrality by implementing solutions that improve national energy security and increase the competitiveness of the domestic economy. As a result, it should contribute to an increase by 20-50% - compared to the level in 2020 – in the share of energy from renewable sources (RES) in the national overall energy mix.

The specific objectives of the program, which are included in the subject of the first competition, are: to increase the potential of the renewable energy industry, to develop intelligent energetic network infrastructure and to reduce the emissivity of the energy sector by increasing the use of biodegradable raw materials and waste products.

The projects are to be distinguished by high innovation potential and a high degree of technological advancement. The NCBR allocates PLN 377.7 million to support projects in the "New Technologies in the field of Energy I" competition. This amount was divided between three thematic areas:

Onshore and offshore wind energy – 125,9 mln zł,

Technologies for the production and use of hydrogen – 141,2 mln zł,

energy storage and energy/thermal microgrids – 110,6 mln zł.

The call for papers will begin on 1st of September this year and will last until 30th November  this year, at 16.00, in the LSI system. The competition is open to industrial and scientific consortia consisting of a maximum of three entities, including at least one enterprise and at least one research unit. Only companies can be consortium leaders.
