Support for international students
The Silesian University of Technology encourages students and doctoral students of the Silesian University of Technology who do not speak Polish to take advantage of the "Academia Law Hub" Project, which is co-financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The aim of the project is to increase the accessibility, comprehensibility and practical usefulness of regulations concerning the higher education and science system in Poland for people who do not speak Polish, as well as to strengthen their ability to consciously exercise their rights.
One of the activities carried out as part of the project is the organization of free individual legal consultations addressed to foreign doctoral students who may need support in understanding Polish regulations regarding doctoral education and the rules of operation in doctoral schools.
Consultations are conducted by experts specializing in the Law on Higher Education and Science, with both scientific and practical experience in supporting the academic community and solving problems related to the functioning of doctoral students in the higher education system.
During consultations, foreign doctoral students can receive support in particular in the following areas:
· rights and obligations of a doctoral student,
· principles of operation of doctoral schools,
· regulations regarding the education of doctoral students,
· individual research plan and implementation of the educational program,
· relations with the supervisor and university bodies,
· administrative and academic procedures,
· benefits and available forms of support,
· interpretation of regulations regarding doctoral students in Poland.
Consultations are conducted by:
Przemysław Mroczkowski M.A. – lawyer and economist, doctoral student at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, specialist in administrative law and higher education law. Author of over 20 scientific publications, including co-author of a commentary on the Law on Higher Education and Science. He has many years of experience in activities for the academic community, including as the Chairman of the Doctoral Student Government at the University of Warsaw, a member of the Doctoral Student Ombudsman Team at the National Council of Doctoral Students, and an expert in the quality of education in doctoral schools.
Ewelina Tomczyk, M.A. – lawyer, doctoral student at the Department of Civil Procedure and research assistant at the University of Wrocław. Author of scientific publications on topics including civil procedure, international law, and the law of higher education and science. She has experience in activities for the academic community, including in the structures of the doctoral student self-government and as a member of the Doctoral Student Ombudsman Team of the KRD.
Consultations will take place online via the Google Meet platform. Each meeting will be individual and free of charge.
Due to the individual nature of the consultation and the limited number of available places, we kindly encourage interested doctoral students to book an appointment as soon as possible.
