Innovator's Day at the Silesian University of Technology
On June the 15th, the Innovator's Day took place at the Educational and Congress Centre of the Silesian University of Technology. During the meeting, the authors of the 20 applications that advanced to the second stage of the Innovator of Silesia 2026 competition had the opportunity to present their solutions to the Competition Jury.
Among the 20 applications competing for the prestigious title of ”Innovator of Silesia 2026” is the solution proposed by Prof. Alicja Kazek-Kęsik from the Faculty of Chemistry. The professor presented the patented "Method of obtaining hybrid oxide-polymer layers".
The Innovator's Day was opened on behalf of the Silesian University of Technology by Prof. Dr. Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk, Rector of the Silesian University of Technology. In turn, Dr Hab. Eng. Marcin Staniek, Prof. SUT, Vice-Rector for Cooperation with the Civic and Economic Environment assessed the presented solutions.
The Innovator of Silesia competition, the idea of which is to promote and reward the most innovative entities from the Silesian Voivodeship, is organized for the eighteenth time by the Upper Silesian Market Entrepreneurship Accelerator sp. z o. o. in Gliwice as part of the "Enterprise Europe Network" project. The competition consists of three categories: microenterprise, small and medium-sized enterprise, and research and development institution.
The awards recognize companies and research and development institutions that undertake innovative changes by introducing cutting-edge technologies, new products or services, and thus achieve business or scientific success.
The Organizer and Strategic Partners have also prepared attractive special prizes: a total of PLN 110,000 in cash prizes, gift vouchers, advice on intellectual property protection and promotional support.
In the next stage, a technological audit will be carried out in the competing institutions and companies, and in September the Competition Jury will select the winners.
