Charity Tournament “We Are Playing for Julek”
Silesian University of Technology and the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Silesia organize a unique charity and integration event, under the slogan “We Are Playing for Julek.” The aim of the initiative is to support the collection for Julek Pron-Zawiski, a son of an employee of the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science of the Silesian University of Technology. The tournament will take place on June 12th at the Sports Centre of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice.
Julek is struggling with a severe neurodegenerative disease – childhood neuroaxonal dystrophy. The event is aimed at raising funds for the treatment and rehabilitation of the boy by supporting the officially registered collection conducted on the Siepomaga platform

Academic teachers and students, who are not connected with sport on a daily basis, decided to join forces in a unique charity initiative. Together, they undertake not only sports competition, but also a range of integration activities and actions that go beyond their daily activities to support an important social goal and to help a child in need.
The main point of the program will be a charity match, in which teams composed of lecturers and students of the Silesian University of Technology and lecturers and students of the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Silesia will compete. The meeting has not only the dimension of sporting competition, but above all solidarity, commitment, and joint action for Julek.
- The event also includes numerous accompanying attractions, including:
A fair of cakes prepared by the Faculty employees,
• charity grill,
• auctions of items and services donated to the collection,
• activities integrating the academic community of both universities.
The “We Are Playing for Julek” initiative is open and connects the academic community around the idea of help, solidarity, and social commitment. The event shows that universities perform not only an educational function, but also an important role in building social sensitivity and supporting people in difficult life situations.
Income from the event and all payments will be transferred to the official collection conducted on the Siepomaga website.

The tournament will take place on June 12th from 12.00 to 16.00 in the Sports Centre of the Silesian University of Technology, 28, Kaszubska Street, Gliwice).
