The Silesian University of Technology signed a cooperation agreement with Trakcja S.A.
The Silesian University of Technology has established cooperation with Trakcja S.A., one of the largest companies operating in the infrastructure construction and energy sector in Poland. The agreement was signed on the 25th of May by the Vice Rector for Collaboration with Civic and Economic Environment, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marcin Staniek, Prof. SUT, and the President of the Management Board General Director Stefan Bekir Assanowicz.
Trakcja S.A. specializes in the implementation of projects in the field of railway and road infrastructure, including design, construction and modernization of railway, tram lines, electrical traction networks, bridges, viaducts, tunnels, roads, and cubature facilities, such as railway stations or train halls. It offers engineering and civil engineering services, power installations, and control systems. For more than 75 years it has been implementing medium and high voltage power installations.
- This is important cooperation for us. Trakcja S.A. is a recognized company that participates in the implementation of many strategic infrastructure investments in Poland. The University, and especially the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering, will definitely benefit from this – says Vice-Rector Marcin Staniek.
The ceremony of signing was also attended by, among others, the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Barbara Klemczak, the Dean of Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering Dr Hab. Eng. Grzegorz Sierpiński, Prof. SUT, Vice-Dean for Science and Cooperation at the Faculty of Civil Engineering Dr Hab. Eng. Artur Nowoświat, Prof. SUT and the Director of Strategy and Development Krzysztof Mejer, Member of the Management Board.
The cooperation will cover research, education, and human resources areas. Students will be able to apply for internships, work placements and didactic trips organized by the company, as well as to carry out diploma theses related to the company’s activities. The agreement also provides for the recruitment of engineering staff from the graduates of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology, as well as the education of employees of Trakcja at higher education and doctoral, postgraduate, and further education courses.

It has been operating for 76 years It has extensive experience in civil engineering, mainly railway construction, but also deals with road construction and energy. We operate in southern Poland and cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology is important for us - primarily in terms of educating our future staff, establishing cooperation with the science clubs of this University, and organizing internships. We are specialists in contract conditions, construction law, but also in the organization of safe work - explains President Stefan Bekir Assanowicz.
