A visit of students of the Glider Science Club to LOTAMS

On April 29th, 2026, students of the Glider Science Club participated in a didactic and scientific trip to LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services in Warsaw. The visit was a continuation of the educational activities of the Club after an earlier trip to Mielec, which took place on March 6th, 2026.

During their stay at LOTAMS students had the opportunity to visit hangars where technical inspections and aircraft repairs are carried out. A special element of the visit was getting acquainted with the maintenance procedures of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The participants could see how the work on modern aircraft is organized and what technical and procedural requirements apply when operating them.

During the tour of the hangars, students had the opportunity to observe the processes related to the preparation and implementation of maintenance works. A particularly interesting element of the visit was getting acquainted with the process of painting aircraft, which requires maintaining high technological standards, proper surface preparation, and precise quality control.

An important element of the visit was also the discussion on the construction and operation of selected aircraft components, including brake systems and wheels of Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Embraer 190 machines. Students had the opportunity to learn the practical aspects of the operation, inspection, and repair of the aircrafts, and to understand the importance of these systems for the safety of air operations.

The knowledge gained during the visit was directly related to the subject of the subject “General construction of aircraft,” conducted by the supervisor of the Student Science Club Dr Eng. Mirosław Jemielniak. The trip enabled students to confront theoretical knowledge with practice used in a certified maintenance organization and to learn about the specifics of work in the aviation sector.

The visit to LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services was a valuable educational and practical experience, allowing participants to broaden their knowledge of aircraft maintenance and the functioning of modern maintenance and repair facilities.
