The 32nd edition of the Spring Engineering Job and Entrepreneurship Fair of the Silesian University of Technology is behind us. On March 23rd, 2026, in the “Nowa” Hall of the Sports Centre of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, an event was once again held, which brought together about 7 thousand students, graduates, secondary school pupils and representatives of business, labour market institutions and organizations supporting the development of professional competences.

Students, graduates of the Silesian University of Technology, as well as employers themselves were anxiously waiting for this event. During the Job and Entrepreneurship Fair held in Gliwice, one could find an interesting internship, work and establish contacts that may result in one’s future professional career.

The aim of the event was to create a space of direct contact between the academic community and employers, as well as to promote entrepreneurship and active career path planning in conditions of dynamic technological and socio-economic changes.

- It is worth studying at the Silesian University of Technology, and the fair is an example of how we support the career development opportunities of our students. For many people this is perhaps the first contact with employers, which certainly encourages further study and then to develop their career – said the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk.

Strong emphasis on the relations of the university with the economic environment was also emphasized by Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Anna Chrobok, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education.

- The presence of a future employer in the education process is extremely important for our students. That is why we try to cooperate with companies such as Orlen, which not only supports students in acquiring current knowledge, but also helps to gain experience on available internships and work placements – she explained.

Orlen was one of the employers who took part in the event. Jagoda Jałowiecka from Orlen S.A. drew attention to specific employment opportunities.

- Our presence here is dictated by the fact that we are currently conducting 2 calls: for the paid internship program and for the work placement program. We have 75 work placement places from in over 35 disciplines from environmental protection to HR, social media, and finance – she said.

- This event confirms that young people have a chance to secure a good job. Here they can verify the market and see where it is worth working, and in the future also start families and have a good quality life. I hope that the young will place their bets on Gliwice, she added.

The main partner of the Spring Engineering Job and Entrepreneurship Fair of the Silesian University of Technology was the Katowice Special Economic Zone. The honorary patronage over the event was taken by, among others, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the Minister of Education, the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy and the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (KRASP).

- KRASP focuses on the importance of systemic cooperation between different sectors. This golden triangle of science-business-local government is the best recipe for technological development of the region. KRASP recognizes the role of career offices in preparing students for the labour market and sees great potential in such events - emphasized Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Arkadiusz Mężyk, who represented KRASP.

- This year around 90 exhibitors presented themselves at the Fair. These were small companies and large enterprises like Orlen or Tauron.
