Ceremonial completion of studies at the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering
More than 50 graduates of the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering have received diplomas congratulating their graduation. The ceremony was attended by the Faculty authorities, invited guests and families of graduates.
The ceremony of awarding the congratulatory diplomas took place after a few years break, caused by a pandemic. Now the Faculty has returned to this tradition.
- There are two important celebrations in the calendar of each faculty. The first one is the inauguration of the academic year, the second one is the discharge, promotion of the diploma or the awarding of congratulatory letters as it is today – said the Dean of the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering, Prof. Mariusz Dudziak.
- I look at you today and I see not only people who have successfully passed through the maze of colloquies and exams. I also see people who have proven that they can pursue a goal – said the Dean to the graduates. - The congratulatory diploma, which you will receive in a moment, is more than a paper with the seal and signature of the Dean. It is a certificate of your perseverance, intelligence, and resilience. During these few years you have not only gained theoretical knowledge, but you have learned how to think critically and find yourself in a world that changes faster than many algorithms. You come out of here into a reality that needs your fresh energy, so don’t be afraid to look for your own paths. The future belongs to those who are able to combine their dreams with hard and systematic work – emphasized the Dean.
The ceremonial awarding of congratulatory diplomas is an opportunity for graduates to meet lecturers and colleagues with whom they have spent the last five years.
– There is another reason for organizing such events. We value contact with our graduates very much; we want to observe how their professional career develops – said the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering Prof. Krzysztof Pikon.
- Our graduates, students, in a few years’ time will be CEOs of companies, they will create their own companies, they will be inventors, and we want to cheer them on, but also cooperate. On the one hand, we can help them solve some problems that they will encounter in their workplace. On the other hand, cooperation with industry is important for the Faculty. Our goal is not only to educate theoretically, but also practically, so that our graduates achieve real successes – emphasized the Vice-Dean.
During the ceremony, Karolina Bigaj who decided to continue her academic career at the Faculty, received her graduation diploma.
- These studies were for us something much bigger than just the implementation of the study program. It was a time of gradual discovery of who we wanted to be as engineers and as people. We struggled with difficult projects, we celebrated small successes, we learned that not only knowledge from books gives the most, but also what we experience every day. From the perspective of today, I can see that moments of commitment and common support have built us the most – said the graduate. - For me, those years were particularly important because I started something completely new twice. First as the first year of computer modelling in engineering studies, and then as the first year of nuclear energy in master studies. This was associated with many unknowns, but it gave a lot of satisfaction with the realization of something that was just forming. This experience has taught me openness and that it is worth going where there are not too many trodden paths. Therefore, I am all the more happy that my history at this Faculty does not end and I continue it further, this time during doctoral studies – said Karolina Bigaj.
Mateusz Kubik is also a graduate of the Faculty, who graduated from the field of energy at the master’s degree.
- During my studies I found not only great lecturers, but also a great group, which was very close and supported each other. The fact that we could count on one another was very important to us – he pointed out. The teachers demanded a lot from us, but they always supported us. We could come to them with any problem, asking for help or advice, they also supported us in the implementation of projects – adds the graduate.
During the ceremonial completion of studies at the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering, there was also a lecture entitled “The energy of the future begins today,” which was delivered by Dr Eng. Tomasz Bury.
For the Faculty, the Saturday celebrations were an opportunity for a double celebration. - We have just received the decision to grant international accreditation of KAUT for our two faculties, which we have in the name of our Faculty, i.e. Environmental Engineering and Energy. This means that the engineer and master’s degree, which we educate here, has the standards of a European engineer – summed up the Dean of the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering Prof. Mariusz Dudziak.
