Announcement of the 14th competition for financing project-based education – PBL

Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education Prof. Anna Chrobok announces the 14th competition for funding project-based education – PBL in cooperation with a foreign university or a consortium university of the European City of Science in the summer semester of the academic year 2025/2026. The competition is organized as part of the Initiative of Excellence - Research University program.

Applications may be submitted only by employees who have submitted correct reports from the 13th and earlier editions. According to the assumptions of the program, PBL projects should be of interdisciplinary character, and each project group should include students at the Silesian University of Technology representing at least two fields of study, diploma paths, or specialties. Pupils from Academic Secondary Comprehensive Schools for which the Silesian University of Technology is the governing body, as well as pupils from schools that have concluded a cooperation agreement with the Silesian University of Technology may be involved in the implementation of the project. A student may pursue only one PBL project in a given semester.

Due to the awarding of 157 projects implemented in the 2025/2026 academic year in the 13th  competition and the assumptions of the IDUB program, this competition is complementary in the 2025/2026 academic year and is limited to PBL projects in international cooperation, this includes the EURECA-PRO European University or PBL projects implemented in cooperation with universities of the European City of Science Katowice 2024 (EMN) consortium, i.e. the University of Silesia in Katowice, the University of Economics in Katowice, the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, the J. Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, K. Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.

Projects in this competition require the participation of at least two students and one tutor from a partner university from abroad or an EMN partner university, confirmed by the conclusion of a bilateral agreement. The program does not allow the financing of participation of people from outside the Silesian University of Technology. The International Relations Office will provide support to interested applicants in searching for a foreign partner under the concluded agreements, in particular in connection with the participation of the Silesian University of Technology in the European University Initiative programme EURECA- PRO.

Applications for funding project-based education - PBL, drawn up on the basis of Annex 1 of this regulation, should be sent by e-mail to the address of a dedicated e-mail box - COS-PBL.IDUB@polsl.pl by 30 January 2026.

Applying for projects, , their financing and settlement  is carried out according to the rules set out in the Rules of financing  project-based education – PBL , as part of the Excellence Initiative – Research University Program, (IDUB), contained in the Ordinance No. 251/2024 of Rector of the Silesian University of Technology of 18th  December 2024 (as amended)

The annexes contain the rules for implementing PBL projects and the templates of documents specified in the Rector’s Ordinance No. 251/2024 of 18th December 2024.
