National Science Centre grants for researchers from the Silesian University of Technology
Another five scientists joined the group of people who in 2025 received financial support for the implementation of individual scientific activities as part of the ninth edition of the MINIATURA competition of the National Science Centre. NCN ( National Science Centre) grants can be used to conduct preliminary research, query, research trip and – for the first time in the history of the competition – to receive support from a mentor in preparing the assumptions of the research project, which the winner plans to submit in the next, larger NCN grant competitions.
The funding could be applied for by persons who obtained the doctoral degree since the 1st of January 2013. Researchers working in Polish scientific units could receive from PLN 5, - to 50 thousand for the implementation of scientific activities.
Among the winners of the June call were 5 people associated with our University, who will carry out the following activities:
- Dr Eng. Jan Pizoń - "Locally available metallurgical and mining waste as an alternative raw material in the production of sustainable Portland clinker", who will combine preliminary research with research trip.
- Dr Eng. Daria Magdalena Katla - "Testing the properties of dual-function materials used for CO₂ uptake and the process of methanization" - who will carry out research trip.
- Dr Paweł Czulkin - "Impact of ion migration on the transport of charge carriers in hybrid perovskite semiconductors" - who will combine preliminary research with research trip.
- Dr Magdalena Iwona Wałek - “Heritage of glass-making architecture in Poland: Preliminary research on the role of glass-making plants in shaping local identity and practices of industrial heritage protection” - who will combine preliminary research with a research query and research trip.
- Dr Eng. Patrycja Maria Romaniszyn-Kania - "Analysis of reward system activity and punishment for metro rhythmical excitations in the assessment of the behavioural-physiological response of the organism" - who will carry out a research trip.
Congratulations! Thus, the group of winners of the program from the Silesian University of Technology in 2025 increased to 11 people, and this is not the end, because according to the Regulations of the MINIATURA 9 competition, there are still pending applications submitted in the last month of the call for proposals. We will know the results by the end of November.
