Silesian University of Technology develops international educational cooperation with Rococo and EDRMedeso
On October 28, at the Silesian University of Technology, a meeting of the University authorities with representatives of the Japanese company Rococo Co. Ltd., its Polish branch of Rococo Poland Sp. z o.o., and EDRMedeso Poland – one of the leaders in the European market of simulation technologies and digital twins (Digital Twin) was held. The talks concerned the development of cooperation in the educational area, with particular emphasis on the creation of joint education programs, practical studies, and dual studies, combining academic learning with professional experience gained in industry.
The meeting was opened by the Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Investment of the Silesian University of Technology Prof. Zbigniew Paszenda, who welcomed foreign guests and stressed the importance of international partnerships in developing modern forms of educating engineers. The meeting was also attended by the Head of the International Relations Office Dr Eng. Grzegorz Kłapyta, Director of the College of Studies Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Beata Orlińska and representatives of several faculties: Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science, Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The delegation of the Japanese company Rococo was represented by: Vice President Michiyo Yoshihara, Director responsible for the development of partnership programs and creative initiatives Hirobumi Kawamura , and an engineer and graduate of Warsaw University of Technology Kacper Radzikowski, who completed his doctoral studies at Waseda University in Tokyo while working at Rococo. Kacper Radzikowski presented his experience from an international program combining academic education and cooperation with industry, pointing out the benefits that similar solutions can bring to students of the Silesian University of Technology.
During the meeting, the main assumptions of the planned cooperation program were discussed, including
- organization of student internships and work placements in the areas of IT, artificial intelligence (AI), simulation engineering, and face recognition technology,
- participation of students of the Silesian University of Technology in academic exchange programs with Waseda University in Tokyo,
- joint research and development projects using modern technologies,
- and initiatives promoting the development of technological and intercultural competences of students.
EDRMedeso, with a branch in Katowice and cooperating with over a thousand industrial customers and technical universities in Europe, presented its experience in integrating Ansys software with solutions based on AI, IoT and cloud computing. Representatives of the company expressed interest in co-creating didactic programs, internships, and research projects with the Silesian University of Technology.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of openness and mutual interest in the further development of relations. The participants agreed that the cooperation of the University with international business partners is a key element of the education of new generation of engineers – well prepared to work in the global environment and the industries of the future.
The Parties declared their willingness to develop a detailed cooperation agreement and to continue discussions on the development of joint educational and research initiatives.
